WALKING TOUR LOCATION __________
AMY OLES, 48 was born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, where she spent her childhood immersed in sports and art. Amy spent seventeen years figure skating, while training for the Olympics, she sustained an injury that, unfortunately, ended her career. She then engrossed herself into the arts and modeling.
Amy attended acting school at fourteen years old. In 1989 she landed a role in the movie Collision Course wit Pat Morita and Jay Leno. She dabbled as a hair, make-up and wardrobe artist. Her budding modeling career found her as the cover model for Detroit Monthly’s 10th Anniversary Issue’s cover model.
Amy Oles is a self-taught artist. She began drawing and painting as a small child, often selling her creations to friends and family for 10 cents. As Amy grew so did her love for art. She began exploring different mediums, such as oil painting, acrylic painting, and sculpting with clay. Inspired by artists Peter Max, Alex Gray and Henri Matisse she turned her talents to Alcohol Inks. As a visionary, she often installs her own abstract, mystical spin to her art.
Amy finds creating art to be a very therapeutic experience, often using her expression to heal herself with hopes that her vision may install comfort, joy and healing for others as well. Her art has been exhibited in galleries, art shows, festivals and fairs. Local businesses also take pride in displaying her works.
Her artistry has been displayed in many venues, to include:
